Kensui Swissies
When I first was introduced to the Swissies, I had never heard of the brand Kensui. and to be honest based on the name alone I began to wright them off. However, when a client of mine gifted me a pair my opinions began to change rather quickly.
First off, they have multiple purposes. Hence they are named after a Swiss army knife. Ahhh, its beginning to make sense. Here are how I have used them:
improve ROM on bent over rows
DIY seal row set up using a utility bench
making a standard pull up bar into a neutral grip
attaching to bands to create a more natural hand position
For rowing and other pulling movements, I really like these and find that they add the perfect amount of variety to my training for its price point. This brings me to my second point
These bad boys can be picked up from amazon for under 40 bucks. Although these were gifted to me, if i were to have tried them elsewhere, then i would have purchased a pair my self.
Kensui was a brand that at first scared me. Sounded like your typical amazon import product that does a fraction of what it advertises. However, Kensui stands out, and is actually introducing some impressive innovation in the space with some of their other grips and barbells.
An addition I think is important is that they include a pad where the bar contacts grip, this helps protect your bar and gives you peace of mind when loading up heavy. As heavy as 800 pounds as stated on their website. Unfortunately I cant row 800 pounds so I have not tested that number. They have never felt challenged by weight in my experience so I don’t see it being an issue for anyone.
Overall I am impressed and am happy to own a pair.
